bio

Natalie Barger

Looking back over my 20 years in the personal care industry, I believe I was destined for product development. Intense study of dance throughout my youth taught me, not only the importance of technique and fundamentals, but about the nuances, intricacies, in some ways even those intangible qualities that elevate and perfect movement (or creative expression in any form). Additionally integral to success was approaching the craft with fervor, tenacity, abandon, and embracing spontaneity. My endeavor into product development was born from my love and aptitude of the sciences merged with my identity as a dancer: a perfect marriage of skill and artistry.

Throughout my career, I have developed efficacious topical formulas, ranging from cosmetic to drug, and designed for skin, hair, nail, and pet care applications. My unique process of ideation to realization involves drawing on formulation and skin biology tenets, while finessing those aesthetic qualities and distinguishing attributes that achieve the target product profile. My experience in both branded and contract manufacturing environments has equipped me with a broad and diverse product portfolio, a collaborative spirit able to support both internal and external customers, the ability to work with interdisciplinary teams to drive successful commercialization, and the skill set to thrive in a fluid environment of constantly changing priorities, inevitable troubleshooting, and active decision making. This exposure throughout the entirety of the product development cycle has rendered me more thoughtful about ease of processing and manufacturability, regulatory implications, avoiding and addressing potential quality, packaging, and supply chain obstacles, and working in concert with sales and marketing.
